How come I can't see that anyone's commented on my page? Do I have to reply through my email? Hello I'm new here and nothing's where I'm expecting it to be.

Ok, I don't actually KNOW why you can't see. If I look at your journal, I see comment links for each entry over to the right hand side. A couple of entries don't have comments, probably because I commented on the lj version rather than the Dreamwidth one, but I can still see a link that says "reply". Can you see these two comments I've just left?

Oh, it just occurred to me that maybe you meant you don't see comments from lj to your new, cross-posted entries! (As in, the ones you posted after you imported) Was that what you meant? Because they won't show up here unless you continually run the importer tool OR unless you disable comments on your lj, and force them to be made on the dreamwidth entry. Crossposting will make new entries show up on lj, but it won't automatically copy across any new comments you get from lj to dw.

I hope that makes sense? I've got a dreadful headache. Call me if not, and I'll try to explain. x

Well, if you disable the lj comments, dreamwidth will have a little sticky saying "Please reply at the dreamwidth entry" or something (or you can set your own custom text here, along with disabling comments: http://www.dreamwidth.org/manage/settings/?cat=othersites. Choose "disable comments on crosspost" and "display footer always". You can write whatever you like in the box below, just make sure to leave the bits with "a href=%%url%%" because that's what gets them to dreamwidth to comment there.

And yes, the poster can log into dreamwidth with their lj, by using "log in with open id". If you dreamwidth is friends locked, you'll need to give them access though (do so here: http://www.dreamwidth.org/manage/circle/edit#editfeeds and add their whole lj url where it says "account name". So for instance, you would choose to grant access to "lilianvaldemyer.livejournal.com" - and be sure "grant access" is ticked - and then I'd be able to see your entries if I was logged into dreamwidth with my lj id). You can also subscribe to them but unless their lj is public, you won't be able to see it (lj doesn't allow cross reading the way dreamwidth does, boo!)

Also, I have about six hundred dreamwidth invites, so if any of your friends want one, to save logging in with lj, poke me. I'll happily oblige.
