My Donna

During my years of service in the Buffy fandom there was a meme-ish sort of thing that went 'round a couple of times regarding the various characters.  In particular, your take on said character; why they were the way they were etc. So I thought I'd drag out that old chestnut and give you the beginnings of my take on the lovely Donna Noble.  It's not finished but I'm at work and only have a 15 minute break so, here you go

  • Daddy’s girl
  • Really loved Lance
  • Couldn’t face Morocco on her own.  It was too soon and it hurt too much.
  • She told everyone that she chose Egypt because the travel agency would only transfer the fares for a similarly priced destination.  Donna paid the extra to walk in the oldest dust she could think of.
  • Knows her mother loves her.  That’s just the way some mothers are.
  • Spoiled by Wilf because he couldn’t spoil Sylvia when she was growing up.  He was away from home a lot due to work and Sylvia's mother wasn’t the softest of people.  Sometimes the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. (Sylvia married Geoff because he was so much like Wilf.  She shouldn’t have been shocked when Geoff doted on Donna but it stung. Geoff was supposed to be for her.   What she didn’t realise was, he was.  Always.)
  • Loves the Doctor even though she thinks he talks shit half the time and keeps shifting  the goal posts to suit himself most days.
  • It gives her a little thrill every time he tells her she’s brilliant, even though she doesn’t believe him.  Yet.
  • She hopes she will one day soon.
  • Is trying to train him to see the 'smaller picture' as well as the big picture.

It's just a start.  Feel free to tell me about your own Donna.  Or the Doctor.  Or Sylvia and Wilf or whoever your favourite character may be.

That's lovely! Donna is awesome.

My favourite character is Seven, so:
- He can never resist a game. The best ones are the sort where he gets to make the rules, but he'll take on almost anything, just for the challenge, and he'll almost always win.
- He's lost that tiresome nobility. He's still fighting the good fight, but he's not averse to bending the rules to suit him. He likes to think his first self would have approved.
- He still cannot believe he ever wore that terrible jacket.
- He first takes Ace on board because he can use her. He never expected to grow to love her so much.
- Sometimes he sees a shadow in his eyes that he doesn't understand, and it scares him.
- Destroying Skaro felt good. He feels alternately ashamed and terrified by that.
- It was actually his fourth self who learned how to play the spoons; he'd forgotten until this regeneration that he knew how.
- Destroying Ace's faith is one of the hardest things he's ever done. He knows her voice will haunt him for the rest of his lives.
- He's seen one of his future selves: a tallish fellow with big ears and a leather jacket. The look of pain and suffering in that self's eyes still gives him nightmares.

There you go. I think I might post this at my own LJ, actually. Thanks for sharing your Donna!

Thanks very much for playing. I have to admit that I'm only familiar with new Who but your Seven sounds intriguing.

Destroying Skaro felt good.

I think that's why Ten makes such loud proclaimations about the 'right thing to do'; he's trying to convince/remind himself as much as the people he's yelling at, because he remembers just how good it felt.

There are a couple of good fanvids on YouTube that summarise the various Doctors pretty well; one of my favourites for Seven is this one here ( Seven is my favourite Doctor because there are just so many sides to him, and because the series finished before we could really learn more, there's so much we don't know about him.

I think Ten tries very hard to forget how much blood is on his hands; post-Time War, he's suddenly the only one with the power to stop himself, and I don't think he's quite gotten the hang of it yet.

I will definitely investigate Seven further.

I think you're right about Ten. I think that's why Davros got to him in JE because what he said about 'the children of time' is true; they are basically Ten's arsenal. Whether they do it voluntarily is beside the point. Ten uses them as weapons. It's all very interesting.

Do! Only four of his serials are out on DVD at the moment, but you can find the others on VHS.

Oh, definitely. Davros won that battle. Ten might be a technical pacifist now, but he has others to do his dirty work for him, and in times past, his hands weren't exactly clean anyway.
